Griffith Park Hike – Friday @ 6:00 PM – Potluck Dinner at the Top
July 23, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
What to expect:
The distance is approximately four to six miles roundtrip. The elevation gain is about eight hundred feet. This isn’t recommended for beginners or people out of shape. This is a moderate hike. If you get separated from us, call the Ranger Station at (323) 913-4688. Please tell the hike leader if you leave early. That way we know you are safe. We may join other hiking groups occasionally. Some people might be wearing skams. People are welcome to share information and encourage others to take them off in a kind and considerate way. Everyone must be treated with dignity and respect.
Potluck dinner at the top:
About once a month, we will join a large hiking group from Meetup called the Los Angeles Hiking Group. We will hike together, occasionally with dignity and respect educate others on the dangers of wearing skams and have a potluck dinner at the top. These potluck dinner at the top hikes are easily identifiable in our list of upcoming events on our “Events” page because the last part of the event title will always say “Potluck Dinner at the Top.” At these events, bring your favorite food item, dish or drink to share.
Here’s the link to the Los Angeles Hiking Group we’ll be joining:
Scroll down to the event on their Meetup page to see the current RSVP count and click the event for additional details.
What to bring:
Shoes or hiking boots with good traction and water. If you bring a flashlight, red, green, and blue lights are preferred. All lights can be used if they are kept away from people’s eyes.
We meet at the “Park Ranger Headquarters” / “Griffith Park Visitor Center” sign. The cross streets are Crystal Springs Dr. and Fire Rd. It is across the street from the merry-go-round and tennis courts. There’s a stop sign at the intersection. GPS apps like google maps or apple maps may not be precise. Click the “Google Map” link below for reference. We will wait approximately 15 minutes and start the hike at 6:15 PM. There is free parking in the back parking lot. Rain cancels this event.
